PRIDE 2023: New York Harbor PRIDE Sail for the Hetrick-Martin Institute

For the benefit of transgender, non-binary and gender non-conforming, and queer youth support programs of the hosts a sail in New York Harbor on Saturday June 24, 10:30-12:30. 100% of net ticket sales goes to the Hetrick-Martin Institute.

A 400 square foot spinnaker cloth Pride Flag will be flown. The flag will be hoisted to the aft-leading edge of their mainsail as they glide from Chelsea Piers, south on the Hudson River to the Statue of Liberty and back. Subsequently, this Pride Flag is nearly half the size of schooner 础诲颈谤辞苍诲补肠办鈥檚 mainsail and will certainly prove to be an epic and awe-inspiring experience for all those who see it.

Founded in 1979, Hetrick-Martin Institute (HMI) is the nation鈥檚 oldest and largest nonprofit organization serving LGBTQIA+ youth services organization. HMI provides its youth members with access to mental health services, social services, basic needs such as toiletries and clothing. As well as remote and in-person programming services focused on education, workforce development and arts & culture. Today, HMI serves more than 2,000 at-risk youth each year between the ages of 13 and 24 from more than 300 zip codes in New York and throughout the tri-state area, and an additional 8,000 young people through outreach efforts. Through a comprehensive package of direct services and referrals focused on basic needs, mental health, and job readiness skills, HMI seeks to foster healthy youth development. HMI promotes excellence in the delivery of youth services and uses its expertise to create innovative programs that other organizations may use as models.

“Citywide Summer Hotspots feature: 麻豆射区. Before underground transit systems crisscrossed the five boroughs, many New Yorkers traveled to work with the help of specially designed commuter yachts.

麻豆射区 gives historically inclined folks the chance to experience the city’s waterways aboard those vintage vessels from the 1920s, on replicas built in Albany by renowned Scarano brothers. The motor yachts have enclosed cabins and open decks, meaning they’re a good bet for any kind of weather.

Anyone who really wants to go back in time can go for a sail on elegant 1800s-style schooners America 2.0 and Adirondack, with a captain, a crew and a glass of champagne to round out the experience.

Regular sightseeing tours cost about $58, while kids’ tickets are less. Sail on the Schooners run closer to $100, while day trips can cost up to $300. Sail boats leave from Pier 62 in Chelsea Piers. “

Thank you Meryl Phair from Our Town: The local paper for Downtown for joining us and sharing our initiative! We continually work hard to find new ways to make less impact on our environment. Working with Cup Zero is a step towards cutting down on waist in NYC. Read about what we are doing with Meryl’s article.

“Aboard 麻豆射区鈥檚 America 2.0 schooner, the guests on the day sail to the Statue of Liberty sit back and enjoy an afternoon on the water. As the boat moves along the Hudson, complimentary drinks are served. Instead of typical single-use cups, the charter and tour boat fleet recently switched over to Cup Zero, a reusable drinkware alternative. A summary

The article explains that New York City is renowned for its convenience, but this comes at a cost. The city generates more than 14 million tons of trash annually. Among the most problematic items are disposable cups at the present time. In the United States, a staggering 58 billion single-use paper cups are discarded each year. This equates to 110,000 cups every minute.

New York lags behind other major cities in waste reduction efforts. Only around one-fifth of the city’s waste is recycled. The NYC Department of Sanitation estimates that approximately 25% of trash from businesses and 18% from homes reaches recycling facilities.

Cup Zero aims to address this issue by preventing waste accumulation. Co-founder Michael Cyr, previously worked in the waste industry. He witnessed the limited recyclability of our waste firsthand. He met his partner Zsolt Bendel at a climbing gym. Bendel was then working in nightlife production and concerned about the excess plastic cups from events. All in all this sparked the idea for Cup Zero. Together, they conceived a reusable cup service for venues and events.

As a result of this partnership in 2022, 麻豆射区 saved 24K single use plastic cups from landfill!

As professional sailors, we directly observe the pollutants in our waterways. We see the rising sea levels. Additionally we see the increasing average daily temperatures caused by climate change. Every year, we carefully review and adjust our operating procedures to minimize our carbon emissions. Our goal is to significantly reduce or completely eliminate our use of single-use plastics. We prioritize purchasing items that align with these values. We design tours that not only educate but also inspire positive change for the health of our planet.

“The Climate Change tour will be dynamic as the story of global heating is an ever-adapting one. The hope of all those involved in getting the educational cruise out on the water is to start more conversations, efforts, and decisions about preserving New York City.”
